About the Magic Weaver (Lucy Kilhullen):
(Above you can see some very early pieces of mine that were recently re-discovered by my mother and handed on to me. Click on each to enlarge to "full" size.)

I was born to a very artistic and creative family. From the beginning my immediate family has always been supportive of my work and my creative process, which has only fertilized my imagination, created deeper roots for my processes and my ability to tap into new ideas.

Reflecting back, the greatest lesson I learned while I was in school was also my hardest. To accept raw, unpolished, unabashed criticism of my work and at times my personality and intrinsically who I am on an individual level was very difficult to swallow and learn. Still, repeatedly by some, every single professor, member of faculty, and student in my proximity seemed driven to teach me this. I further learned to create for myself and not concern myself with what other people think.

I received my Bachelor of Art degree from T.W.U. in Denton, Texas. The greatest influence on me during my college career was Dr. Calabrese. He does not realize how much he affected who I am today, but he made an indelible mark on my existence that is still visible today years later.

I traveled abroad to study art with Dr. Calabrese. These travels have infected, affected, and infused into my work. I have only grown better with time and exposure.

My first trip was to Italy (Rome and the surrounding area). This trip had probably the least effect on me because I was unprepared for what I saw (the beauty and the sheer magnitude of volume). I just simply could not absorb it all.

A year later I went to England and Scotland. This area holds a huge deep personal significance for me, as I am of Scottish, English, and Irish decent. I was better prepared for the schedule and how to take in everything I could. I felt that trip make a profound impact on who I am, what I do, and why. As intangible as it may seem for some that trip truly was an epiphany in my life, and my work.

From there I became an intern at TXU Electric in the Marketing department and worked on the Konnections [sic] program on the internet interface. I then went to Intelect Network Technologies [sic] and ran the web development department as Website Coordinator. After Intelect was bought out, I moved on and began the long arduous but very satisfying journey to become a self-sufficent artist.

I never lost my interest in web design and development, so I combined the two areas of most interest to me (Art and Web Design) to create the Magic Weaver Studio. And here we are today!

As an artist I find myself trying to express the ideas, joy, sadness, and innermost moments in life I have found in my lifetime to experience. As a human, I look to connect with people through my art. As an educator I try to find value in my offerings. As a parent, I try to pave the way for my children so they can learn from me rather than reinvent the wheel.

It is my sincerest hope that you will find pleasure in the following pages, but if you don't, it is my second sincere hope you can respect the art for what it is. I lay myself out on the paper, canvas, or in the sculpture. Sometimes I come away with raw edges, but always better for the effort, time, and experience.

I can sum up my work in the following statement:
I create for me. Whoever wants to listen, learn, or just enjoy for the beauty is welcome to. In my opinion, those who are not ready for my work and what it has to say are only missing out.

My thanks to you for visiting, and I hope you come back soon. We are always updating with new art, new ideas, and new offerings for you. If you would like to sign up for our update emails, please send an email to:
updates-subscribe@magicweaver.com and a short email will be sent when we update our website.

I would like to take a moment and show my gratitude to some very dear people. They have provided me support emotionally, financially, or spiritually as I bare my soul and my mind here and elsewhere. These people are very special to me, and you all know how important to me you are. You all know that I am honored to know you and call you family, friend, or mentor (I will likely make honorary statements to each throughout the website, but here it is collectively):

My parents, Martha, Dorothy, Brian, Lanny, John, Erika, Harry, Maria, Glenn, Kathy, William, Debra, Sharon, Sarah, and many more, whom as I was typing this your name escapes me (or I don't know how you feel about being labeled here), but you know who you are.
